A younger lady has a wild story to inform after being viciously attacked by a rabid raccoon in Maine.
Rachel Borch, of Hope, advised her harrowing story to the Bangor Every day Information.
Borch, 21, was reportedly jogging alongside a well-known path close to her house, when she observed a raccoon blocking her path, baring its tooth.
She advised the paper that she “knew immediately it needed to be rabid.”
The animal bolted towards her, and although she tried to maneuver round it, the raccoon lunged at her and sunk its tooth into her thumb.
Borch screamed because the animal remained latched onto her thumb, scratching at her legs and arms.
She quickly observed a puddle and shortly dragged the animal to the pool of water and held its head beneath water.
“With my thumb in its mouth, I simply pushed its head down into the muck,” she stated.
As soon as the rabid raccoon had been defeated, the lady sprinted again house and had her mom take her to Pen Bay Medical Middle.
The lifeless raccoon was taken to the Maine Warden Service and later examined constructive for rabies by the Maine Middle for Illness Management.
Rabies is deadly if left untreated. Borch is receiving photographs, together with the rabies vaccine, immunoglobulin and tetanus injections.
The CDC reviews that, on this century, the variety of human deaths in the USA attributed to rabies has declined from one hundred or extra annually to a mean of two or three annually.
