KURE BEACH, NC (AP) – North Carolina is opening its first heritage dive website, a Civil Warfare blockade runner situated off the coast at Fort Fisher.
The dive website within the Condor will open Friday and can present the chance to discover what’s described as among the best-preserved shipwrecks on the North Carolina coast.
The dedication will probably be held on the Fort Fisher Historic Website in Kure Seashore.
The Condor ran aground and was misplaced on the night time of Oct. 1, 1864, because it steamed by means of the cordon of Union naval vessels blockading the port of Wilmington.
The 218-foot-lengthy wreckage rests in 25 ft of water about seven hundred yards off the seashore in entrance of the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.
