Black bear kills 16-year-old boy during race in Alaska

Authorities say a black bear killed a sixteen-yr-previous runner whereas he was competing in an Alaska race on Sunday.

The Alaska Dispatch Information stories that the teenager, whose determine has not been launched, was a participant within the juniors division of the Robert Spurr Memorial Hill Climb race between Anchorage and Girdwood.

The race director says the runner had apparently made it to the midway level turnaround on Chook Ridge path and was on his means down when he texted a member of the family that he was being chased by a bear.

Officers from various businesses responded up the mountain to find the boy.

Alaska State Troopers launched a press release Sunday saying the boy’s stays have been transported from the scene and his subsequent of kin was notified.

A park ranger shot the 250-pound bear within the face, nevertheless it ran away.
